Our group seeks highly motivated members with a strong passion for advanced manufacturing, nanotechnology, functional materials, and energy science. Multiple positions are currently available for postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, undergraduate students as well as visiting students/scholars in Professor Sun's group. Candidates in multidisciplinary areas of Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or any related areas are welcome to contact Prof. Sun through email at hongtao.sun@psu.edu and include your CV and a brief statement of your interests related to our research. Candidates with experience in (but not limited to) one or more of the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply:(1) synthesis and sintering of ceramic matrix composites; (2) 2D/3D additive manufacturing of functional and structural materials; (3) energy materials for energy conversion (e.g., piezoelectrics, thermoelectrics) and storage (e.g., all-solid-state-batteries) and thermal management (e.g., heat spreaders, thermal insulators); (4) biomedical devices and soft robots; (5) fiber engineering.

Prof. Sun joined Penn State as an assistant professor joint-hire in both the Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and Materials Research Institute.
Nanotechnology expert joins industrial engineering department
