Jia Li is a Professor of Statistics at the Pennsylvania State
University. Her research interests include statistical/machine
learning, probabilistic graph models, image processing,
retrieval/annotation, composition analysis, and applications in
biomedicine and meteorology. She also worked as a Program
Director at the National Science Foundation from 2011 to 2013, a
Visiting Scientist at Google Labs in Pittsburgh from 2007 to
2008, a researcher at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center from
1999 to 2000, and a Research Associate in the Computer Science
Department at Stanford University in 1999. She received the
M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering (1995), the M.Sc. degree
in Statistics (1998), and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical
Engineering (1999), all from Stanford University.
