WELCOME
Sylvester Osagie (PhD Cornell, 1996) taught at Ogun State University before going to Cornell University for his doctorate degree in organizational behavior. Since joining Penn State Altoona in 1995, he has taught management, industrial and labor relations, and sociology courses. His research interests over the years include emotionally troubled workers in organizations, occupational/professional emergence, business ethics, environmental management, and diaspora studies. However, his overarching interest is in those occupations and research activities that help the dispossessed. He believes that true success can only be achieved when we transform the lives of other people.

2nd International conference (2009) co-organized by the Niger Delta Research Team and the Department of Political Science, Niger Delta University. The conference was sponsored by the Alliance for Education, Science, Engineering, and Development in Africa (AESEDA, Penn State), Center for Applied Environmental Research (CAER, University of Missouri, Kansas City) and the Political Science Department, Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. The discovery of oil in Oloibiri in 1956

Oil was first discovered in Oloibiri in 1956 by Shell D'Arcy (later Shell Development Corporation of Nigeria). Oil prospecting rights were granted soon after to other companies such as Mobil, Agip, Safrap (Elf), Amoseas (Texaco) (NNPC, 2005). |
